How To Make Time to Learn When You're Always Busy

Everyone is busy. Between work, and home, and everything that falls in between, it can be difficult to find the time to decide what to have for dinner, let alone focus on continuing education and learning.

With all the busyness that comes with day-to-day life it is still important to make time for yourself, and push the boundaries of your knowledge both professionally and personally (the ‘New Self-Care’ if you will). That’s why in today’s blog post we’ll outline three tips to help you make time to learn when you’re seemingly always busy: 

Take Advantage of Weekly Recaps and Blog Newsletters 

Chances are your favorite blog (including this one!) have the option to subscribe to be the first to know about all of their latest content. Each weekend, on Saturday mornings, we deliver a ‘Weekly Blog Recap’ that includes all of our posts from the week, giving you a buffet of education at your fingertips. 

While every post on the blog may not be of interest to you in a given week, these recaps and newsletters compile all of the latest and greatest from your favorite blogs into one place, so you can spend time reading instead of searching for new content. 

Bonus: Star the recaps and newsletters from your favorite blog to revisit later. That way next time you’re in a waiting room, on a road trip, or even at the beach, you can quickly reference all of the great content you were meaning to read, right from your inbox! 

Shift Your Content Consumption to Audio 

It’s the oldest trick in the book, multi-tasking! But with a modern technology flair. Instead of trying to make EXTRA time for reading content of interest to you, integrate it into the activities you’re already doing throughout your day. 

Whether you’re cooking a meal for your family, getting your daily exercise in, or jumping into a long commute, throwing on an audiobook or audio blog can help you fit in some much-needed learning time AND allow you to avoid listening to those same five songs they play on the radio.

Breakdown Your Content into Bite-Sized Pieces

It’s always the same old song and dance: you’re interested in a topic, you find a compelling book or eBook on said topic, you purchase it (or download it free from the commonsku Blog), and then it sits on your bedside table, or on that shelf in your office and you rarely think about it let alone reach for it again. Sound familiar? 

Break down that large task by dividing it into many smaller tasks, so that it’s less daunting and intimidating. In the case of the book, divide the total chapters by five weeks and set yourself a 30-minute timer per week to tackle that week’s pages, or in the case of the commonsku eBook, focus on reading, digesting, and implementing each part of the series before moving to the next one. 

Follow these three tips to help you begin to make time for learning in your life, even when it feels like you have no time. Regardless of the busyness in your life, it is always important to prioritize education and continuous learning to grow your business.
